The Voyagers bats picked up right where they left off in game two of the 2024 regular season, but it wasn't enough last night to come out with a victory. Three different players for Great Falls hit a home run, the first coming courtesy of Jose Melendez, who hit a 2-run shot to left field in the second inning to put his team up 2-0. In the fourth, Xane Washington sent a rocket over the Buffalo Wild Wings sign in left field. It was an absolute no-doubter that brought in 3 RBI's, giving Xane 11 RBI's in just the last two games. The final homer of the day for Great Falls came from leadoff man Mahki Backstrom, who hit a solo shot right along the left foul pole.
The Voyagers had a 3-6 lead through four innings. However, a 5-run 6th inning from Billings spelled trouble for the Voyagers last night, as they were never able to tie the game back up. Starting pitcher Nate Madej went 4.1 innings, surrendering 4 runs on 4 hits and 3 strikeouts. Pineda, Verdugo, and Herrera all saw relief work.
Another great game for Billings player Taylor Lomack, who had 3 hits, 2 RBI's and a stolen base. Luke Rettig had the start for Billings, who went 4 innings, surrendering 8 hits and 6 runs with 3 strikeouts. Mustangs reliever Brendan Medoro is credited with the victory.
The Voyagers play again tonight at 7 PM for game 4 between the 'Stangs and the Voyagers. RHP Tyler Johnson gets his first start tonight, as well as right fielder Marcos Castillo.
