The Pioneer Baseball League has named Great Falls Voyagers right-hander Sam Lavin one of its Players of the Week sponsored by RedPocket Mobile. Lavin received Pitcher of the Week honors after throwing a complete-game shutout against the Glacier Range Riders.
Lavin delivered a dominant performance Thursday, throwing a complete game in Great Falls' 8-0 win over Glacier. He allowed seven hits and two walks, struck out nine, and faced the minimum number of batters in three separate innings while improving his record to 2-3.
The right-hander faced 34 batters and threw 78 of his 125 pitches for strikes, preventing Glacier from converting any of its baserunners into runs. Lavin did not allow an extra-base hit and completed the shutout with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth.
Lavin's commanding nine-inning shutout delivered a distinctly dominant performance worthy of Pioneer Baseball League Player of the Week recognition.
