Voyagers Win 5th Straight, Wrap Up Billings Series In Style

The Great Falls Voyagers stayed in their groove in today's game 6 matchup against the Billings Mustangs, scoring double digit runs for the fourth game in a row as a team. They get the day off tomorrow as they prepare for another 6-game series against the Glacier Range Riders.

The good guys showed their ability to respond swiftly to Billing's offensive pushes this series, especially games four through six. It felt like every time the Mustangs were beginning to build some momentum, the Voyagers would deliver one message: anything you can do, I can do better.

Billings grabbed a 1-0 lead in the top of the first with a solo home run from Gabe Wurtz to right field. But, the Voyagers came up and put two on the board in the bottom first, taking the lead back 2-1.

Then, Billings took a stand of their own, putting up 2 more runs on RBI base hits from Casey Harford and Isaac Lovings in the bottom second to trade the lead right back. Billings had the momentum, and it felt like they were going to put up a stronger fight tonight. In the bottom of the frame, Great Falls put up five more runs, two of which came on a Xane Washington 2-run homer. RBI base hits also from Fritz and Hall in the inning. Through two innings, the Mustangs had put up their best offensive fight since game one, yet they found themselves down 7-3 after two innings.

The Voyagers kept piling on as the game went on; Hylan Hall and Oscar Serratos Jr. both had 3 RBI games with multiple base hits.

Matthew Hickey got the start in his first professional appearance with the Voyagers, going 4 innings, giving up 4 runs, all earned, on 6 hits with two walks and three strikeouts. Pineda came in relief and put up two hitless, scoreless innings. He struggled a bit in the third, but was still given the victory in an overall quality outing from him. Will Lavin and Dayan Reinoso also each relieve for an inning. Voyagers come away with the victory, final score 10-14.

The Glacier Range Riders will come to town in a couple days for game one between the two squads starting at 7:05, anticipated starter for Great Falls is AJ Fritz. It is a six game series, with the final three games being played at Glacier Bank Park.
